Weapons and Kids

With the recent shooting at an elementary school in Connecticut, there have been concerns on how to raise awareness of this gruesome issue with the children.

Fear is usually inculcated in these innocent souls and parents and society is the number one reason to inflict it within them.

Recently a Utah kid took the gun to school saying that if such an intruder comes in, he could protect himself and his classmates.

First of all, How did the boy get access to a gun? What was going on in the mind of an 11 year old boy that he carried a gun to school?

However, it is pretty clear that when his parents told him about the incident, he was beyond terrified that he wanted to protect himself in school. Unfortunately, with the same weapon that took so many lives.

These children are blameless. They are exposed to the crime, and how they perceive it, can be clueless.

Parents should keep a close eye on their offspring's and check on their behavior after they are told the harsh realities of life. Some kids could take a positive stand but, there are some who could be negative about it.

Mantra for today: Innocence is valuable therefore, when destroyed should be kept an eye upon.

Definition of a Normal Life?

Many dream of a normal life.

This everyday life can be defined in many ways:
  • Some would describe it as a situation where he could go to work, come home to a happy family and being able to get his three meals a day with a cover over them.
  • Some would dream of a life without crime or having good health.
  • Some define normalcy as leading a respectable life as he has been convicted of a crime.

Any feature that has been snatched away or he cannot achieve, is desired by man. This usually happens when we become limited in that activity.

When freedom is deprived, people dream of a normal life where man can wander around freely and have the right to speech, and action. Ask people who live in many such countries.

Ask people who have got inflicted by the wounds of terrorism and how they dream of a normal life.

My 2 cents
Next time, when we whine about stress or a monotonous life, let us think of people who live in fear and have lost their loved being. Being unattached to our pattern of life and being thankful for what we have is the path to happiness.

Mantra for today: Count your blessings since they are still in abundance compared to many who don't have a life close to being normal.

Christmas Spirit

'Tis the season for giving.

Giving when your brethren need you is the most appropriate time to perform this act of charity.

We all are aware of the tragedy that occurred on December 14th in Connecticut. Children aged 5-10 years of age were not spared from the wrath of a man and became victims of his random gunshots.

What did these children do? Why were they subjected to the gun violence?

The parents who lost their children in this tragedy are torn apart and cannot get closure. One such lady is Ben's mom. Ben was a victim of this tragedy and my blogging community is joining hands to help arrange a Funeral for that family.

Your little contribution will help fill up the pot with the desired amount for arranging a ceremony to bid farewell to Ben.

Join hands in this venture and help the people in need. Make your donations on this LINK.

Mantra for today: Caring for others in times of need, is gonna take you miles with regards to karma.
